Ryde Hospital redevelopment could be moved to Macquarie Univ

The state government is considering a proposal to move Ryde Hospital to Macquarie University's campus as part of the hospital's planned $479 million redevelopment.
Macquarie University has offered to provide the land for free if the government were to develop a new public hospital to replace the existing Eastwood facility.

The proposal is due to be discussed at a meeting of the Macquarie University Council on Thursday evening.
Health Minister Brad Hazzard said completing the redevelopment on the Macquarie University site instead would add no extra cost to the project.
"This idea certainly elevates our plans for the delivery of 21st century, cutting-edge healthcare for patients," he said.
