Ramiro Navarro never thought he'd be this excited to go to school. The basketball-loving seventh-grader returned to the familiar halls of Walker Middle School in West Salem Thursday, along with hundreds of other students across Salem-Keizer Public Schools. "It feels good," Navarro said. "I'm excited to do school. It's a lot easier to (hear) in person than over the Chromebook." With the district's hybrid model, students attend in-person with their cohorts two days a week. Mondays are reserved for extra support, and on the other two days, students continue with remote learning. Thursday, half of Walker's total student population — or about 267 students — were there.
