March 31, 2021 Carl Sandburg College has worked out an agreement with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville’s School of Nursing on an accelerated path to a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. The program would allow students to complete their general education courses at Sandburg, earning an associate degree in nursing, and then completing their Bachelor’s coursework online through SIUE. Leaders at both institutions talk of the flexibility from this, entirely-online format, and how it’s designed to accommodate the needs of working registered nurses. The program consists of eight-week courses and can be completed in one year (three semesters) if most of the general education requirements are met at the time of admission.
