Work on a new social housing development in a village near Newtown has almost finished. Seven homes built near Sarn Village Hall will be the first social housing scheme in Powys to achieve Passivhaus certification. The scheme has been developed by Powys County Council to build 250 new homes by 2025. Cllr Iain McIntosh, Cabinet Member for Housing, Planning and Economic Regeneration, described the new housing development as "ground-breaking". He said: “They are being built to the exceptionally low-energy Passivhaus standard which will help to cut carbon emissions while tenants will have lower energy bills. Another day, another drone pic. We love seeing these bird's eye views of our sites.
