Share Updated: 10:37 PM CDT Jul 22, 2021 Keegan Cooper Digital Editor Sarpy County Sheriff Jeff Davis announced Thursday he will re-run for Sarpy County Sheriff in 2022.Davis's career started as a dispatcher and later became a deputy sheriff and after Patrick J. Thomas's retirement, Davis was appointed sheriff by the County Board in 2005 and since then has been re-elected three times 2010, 2014, and 2018. Sheriff Davis also implemented “Project Lifesaver” in Sarpy County the first of its kind in Nebraska. Project Lifesaver is a public safety program designed to locate missing children with autism and lost adults suffering from Alzheimer’s and other dementia-type disorders. Sheriff Davis graduated from Daniel J. Gross Catholic High School in Bellevue and from the 155th session of the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was inducted into the Nebraska Sheriff’s Hall of Fame In 2019 and In 2020, Sheriff Davis was named the Sarpy Chamber Elected Official of the year. Sheriff Davis has been in Sarpy County all his life, and he lives in Papillion with his wife. They have three sons.
