The Indian Supreme Court has criticized the Indian Army for denying promotions to women permanent commission officers and ordered a fresh review of their cases within two weeks. The Court found that the cut-off for considering their confidential reports was arbitrary and aimed at equating women officers to their male counterparts. The Army and the Union government justified their action based on policy frameworks and a previous court judgment, but the Court deemed the process to be unfair and in violation of constitutional principles. The review will consider all confidential reports, except the two most recent ones. | Latest News India
