Link to Share Dan O'Sullivan believes newly retired mare Affair To Remember is a classic example of what Racing Victoria is trying to achieve with its growing reliance on more complex scanning of horses for potential problems. The Ballarat-based trainer said on Wednesday that a recent MRI scan on his Group 2 winner revealed issues that could have led to a 'catastrophic injury' if she had come back into work. Affair To Remember badly hurt a hoof in a veterinary accident in March but had overcome that injury, only for other potential issues to emerge from the MRI scan. "We wouldn't have picked these things up unless we did an MRI," O'Sullivan explained. "Her x-rays weren't showing much and her action was fine but her MRI did show there was some things there that possibly saved us from a catastrophic injury down the track.
