Staff writer STEUBENVILLE — Among the first orders of business at Tuesday morning’s reorganization meeting of the Jefferson County Board of Elections was the appointment of a new chairman – Brian Scarpone. Scarpone, a Republican, was nominated by new board member Tom Gentile and approved unanimously during the meeting held inside the second floor meeting room at the Jefferson County Tower. Scarpone is the chairman of the Jefferson County Republican Party executive committee, a position he also took over recently. With Board of Elections Director Bob Gale being a member of the Democrat Party, the chair has to be a member of the Republican Party.
