Scottish government's lack of action on the Caley railworks called into question

TRADE unions and campaigners have written to the Scottish Transport Secretary questioning a lack of action on the reopening of an historic railway works in Glasgow, more than a year after its closure.
STUC general secretary Roz Foyer and RMT and Unite representatives have signed an open letter to Michael Matheson expressing “disappointment and mounting concern” at the lack of progress on developing the St Rollox (Caley) works in Springburn.
There were desperate attempts to protect jobs at the site, which ceased operations in July 2019 after more than 140 years, including calls for a public buy-out backed by staff and unions.
