Essex police responded to a call reporting a woman screaming for help in Canvey Island, only to find out that the source of distressing screams they heard was a vocal parrot, Freddie. A concerned resident called the police after hearing the parrot in their neighbourhood. Freddie belongs to bird enthusiast Steve Wood, who has been housing a variety of species, including macaws and Amazon parrots since more than two decades. While the incident turned out to be a false alarm, it highlights the importance of community vigilance and prompt reporting.
