Americans who are waiting to receive their second stimulus check from the new coronavirus stimulus package can check the status of their payments.
The IRS has reopened its Get My Payment tool, which tells users when stimulus payments went out and whether they were sent by direct deposit or paper check.
The unfamiliar account numbers, in many cases, are because the taxpayer used a third party tax company to prepare their returns. In those cases, tax refunds are often directly deposited to temporary accounts opened by the tax prep company rather than to the taxpayer’s. Those bank account numbers are what the IRS has on file for many taxpayers.
