In February 2017, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation electoral battle between BJP and Shiv Sena saw three rounds of recounting, each ending up in a tie. Finally, draw of lots settled it in favour of BJP candidate Atul Shah. In December 2017, BJP candidate in Mathura civic polls Meera Agarwal was tied at 874 votes in a ward.
