The legislation excludes riot costs from the Disaster Assistance Contingency Account. Written By: Al Edenloff | × Bill Ingebrigtsen The Minnesota Senate passed legislation on Monday, March 8 funding the Law Enforcement Operations Account, securing resources for emergency law enforcement operations tied to “extraordinary and unplanned emergency events.” The resources can be accessed by state and local law enforcement following an emergency declaration or when the Minnesota State Patrol requests assistance for state properties, particularly the Minnesota Capitol. Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen, R-Alexandria, a former Douglas County sheriff, supported the measure. "Officers answer the call of duty every single day and rise to the challenge of their job in order to protect Minnesota and its residents," Ingebrigtsen said in a news release. "The legislation passed today ensures that they receive the adequate resources to perform their duty and protect Minnesotans from any potential unrest."
