喀布爾國際機場在26日發生自殺炸彈攻擊，造成13名美軍殉職，共有183人死亡、218人受傷。對此，美國總統拜登（Joe Biden）表示，不會原諒且一定要讓兇手付出代價，並在28日出動無人機擊斃2名「伊斯蘭國呼羅珊省（IS-K）」成員。據美媒引述美國官員指出，拜登給予國防部更大的行動權限，讓國防部可在沒有白宮批准的狀況下，擊殺任何和IS-K有關的目標。
