A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued until 10 p.m. for northern, western and central Wisconsin. The watch covers the area roughly north and west of a line from LaCrosse to near Green Bay. Cities included in the watch include Wausau, Stevens Point, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Rhinelander, Eau Claire and LaCrosse. The main risks are damaging winds and large hail over central and north-central Wisconsin during the afternoon and early evening hours, according to the National Weather Service. Across southern Wisconsin, the main risks are gusty winds and small hail, according to the weather service. Areas of northern Wisconsin face the highest probability for severe storms, said Chris Stumpf, a weather service meteorologist in Sullivan.
