Sheridan is latest Oregon prison to see COVID cases spike in short time

Prisons across Oregon, including the federal prison in Sheridan, have seen surges of coronavirus cases in December.
Coronavirus cases have surged over the past month at a federal prison west of Salem, officials confirmed Tuesday.
On Dec. 4, the prison in Sheridan had two cases. By Dec. 18, that number had grown to 16, according to court documents. By Wednesday, the prison, which is home to about 1,450 inmates, had 41 active cases among prisoners and another 10 cases diagnosed in staff, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
