The train service resumed operations in October 2020 after seven months of being suspended since March due to Covid-19 lockdown across the country. Railway Minister Piyush Goyal at the time of resumption of Kalka-Shimla 'Himalayan Queen' train had tweeted, “The festival special train between Kalka and Shimla will start operations from October 21. This will enhance ease of movement and provide a big boost to the tourism and hospital sector. Take all the necessary precautions while travelling or a safe and happy journey.”
