(WSIL) -- The need this holiday is greater than ever before and not just when it comes to Christmas gifts but necessities as well including shoes.
With its fourth year underway, St. Kicks of Southern Illinois is dedicated to collecting new shoes for kids throughout the region by teaming up with school counselors.
St. Kicks is spearheaded by Arsenal BBJ Instructor Sam Burns and Alex Jeffries who say new shoes have a multitude of benefits for kids including self-confidence.
"Kids grow rapidly and keeping them in appropriate fitting footwear can be difficult for struggling families," they state. "Previously worn shoes or cheaply made shoes often do not provide the correct form and support that growing little feet need."
