Snow and ice weather warning for London as New Year cold snap grips UK Robert Dex London could be hit by snow flurries on Wednesday as the UK is gripped by a freezing cold snap in the last days of 2020. The Met Office said the south-west of England was the only place expected to escape the cold that will chill the UK on Wednesday, as hazardous conditions hit much of the country. A snow and ice warning has been declared for London and much of southern England from 10am today until 6am Thursday. Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said any lying snow for southern counties could be “disruptive and impactful”, adding: “We could still see a few centimetres building up. These areas don’t usually see that much snow.”
