Article content The April snowstorm hit Portage la Prairie and the province of Manitoba hard Monday with 15-20 centimetres of the white stuff accumulating over the two-day storm. A special weather statement quickly turned to a snowfall warning Monday and Tuesday for several Rural Municipalities in the area including the RM of Portage, Cartier, Dufferin, Grey and Headingly. The low pressure system stalled over northwestern Ontario brought an additional 5 to 10 cm of snow Tuesday to bring the total to the 20 cm range. In addition, visibility in snow and blowing snow was terrible at times with northerly winds gusting to 60 km/h.
