Some Sioux Falls' city pools delay opening amid lack of lifeguards

City pools are opening on Friday — well, some of them.
While several pools are set to open on schedule, the shortage of lifeguards the city warned about in early April means that some pools are expected to take a week or more before opening.
Drake Springs Family Aquatic Center, Laurel Oak Family Aquatic Center, Terrace Park Family Aquatic Center, and the Pioneer Spray Park will all start the summer season on May 28.
But Frank Olson Pool, Kuehn Park Pool, and McKennan Wading Pool are "anticipated to open in the next seven to 10 days dependent upon hiring additional lifeguards," city officials said in a release.
