Southbury Selectmen Approve Resolution for Lutheran Home

SOUTHBURY — The Board of Selectmen, meeting Thursday, May 20, approved a resolution during a public hearing for Ascentria Care Alliance regarding its ownership of the Lutheran Home.
Attorney Gail E. McTaggart, Secor, Cassidy, & McPartland, explained the requirement to hold such a hearing to benefit investors and bond holders of a $35 million bond.
Ms. McTaggart noted that there is no obligation to the town; the federal regulations for bonding require a public hearing in towns where the properties are located.
A planned renovation of the rest home will address the only remaining piece of the property that has not been upgraded.
The home has been part of the community for 100 years.
