But if we are to understand emerging opportunities and risks, we also need an understanding of the critical features of space that makes it unique. Darin is Director Space for the South Australian Space Industry Centre. In his previous job he managed the Systems Analysis Laboratory for Boeing Phantom Works in Brisbane, with a mantra to disrupt Boeing’s traditional product lines with systems 10 x better/cheaper/or faster. Prior to that, he had 25-years in Air Force working strategy and capability development for the Air and Space domains. His experiences include university lecturer, space operations and policy, weapons test and evaluation, flying anti-submarine and surveillance operations, coalition partnering, and large-scale transformation projects.
