By • 21 Jan 2021 NO RISE: There will be no increase in the council tax precept for Gainford Parish Council SPENDING on floral displays is to be pegged back to ensure residents in a dale village are not asked for any extra tax to pay for their parish council. Gainford Parish Council met last week to discuss its budget and set its precept – the amount villagers are charged via their council tax to fund the group’s activities – for 2021-22. Parish council chairwoman Cllr Lisa Johnstone said given the present difficulties facing residents as a result of the Covid-19 crisis, now was not the time to increase the precept.
