Springfield district posts back-to-school plan for masking, vaccines

The Springfield district recently posted a plan for what school will look like this fall, and it resembles life prior to the ongoing pandemic — but, with extra precautions.
For example, masking is expected to be optional, not required, except on school buses.
Free COVID-19 testing will be available to symptomatic students and employees, either at school sites or a central location.
Schools will host vaccine events for eligible students and provide details about clinics to families.
Physical distancing, handwashing, and regular cleaning of facilities will be emphasized by staff and reinforced with signage.
Stephen Hall, chief communications officer, said all districts including Springfield were required to develop and post a "Safe Return to In-Person Instruction and Continuity of Service Plan" by late June.
