According to The Westerly Sun, the School Committee approved a $59.4 million budget for the coming fiscal year, a 2.32% increase over current spending. But because of expected cuts from the state, the budget would require a $1.6 million or 3.32% percent boost from local taxpayers. Town Manager J. Mark Rooney's municipal budget is due to the Board of Finance by March 15.
