Jan 25, 2021 12:23pm Lumen lands a new NG911 contract with the State of Nebraska to provide improvements to the state's emergency service network. (Lumen) The State of Nebraska recently picked Lumen to help transition to a next generation 911 (NG911) platform by using its network backbone and IP-based software. The contract with State of Nebraska Public Service Commission established a statewide Emergency Services Internet Protocol Network (ESInet) that serves approximately 70 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs), with the goal of having all seven PSAP regions connected to the ESInet by the end of next year. The contract, which Lumen had won previously, has an initial term of five years with five one-year options. The contract is worth nearly $815,000 the first year and $1.8 million a year for the remaining fours years, followed by five one year-options that would extend the contract for up to 10 years, according to a Lumen spokesperson.
