State Police Teaming Up for Holiday Safety Program Americans are looking forward to one of the first holidays that we've had since the COVID-19 vaccinations have become available. And travel industry insiders are predicting a record number of motorists for Memorial Day weekend. And we are ready to get out on the road, but safely, of course. A new program will be in effect for the holiday weekend with the Louisiana, Tennessee, and Mississippi State Police forces. The “Line to Line” traffic safety initiative will involve additional safety measures on the roads that connect all three states. WLBT TV reports, via WBRZ in Baton Rouge, that extra state police will be patrolling Interstate 55 to do everything from removing impaired drivers, checking for seatbelt usage, to preventing vehicles from speeding. Checkpoints will be set up for enforcement by officials from all three states.
