DANVILLE, Va. â Following Gov. Ralph Northamâs announcement of three FEMA funded vaccine clinics last week, Danville opened theirs on Monday morning in the former JCPenney location at the Danville Mall. The clinic, a collaborative effort between the Virginia Department of Emergency Management (VDEM), the Virginia Department of Health and the City of Danville, will mass vaccinate not only Danville and Pittsylvania County residents, but citizens from all surrounding areas. According to Mike Guzo, Virginia Department of Emergency Medicine Chief Regional Coordinator for region six, the space has the ability to serve 6,000 people in a day, but 2,000 vaccines were given on Monday by appointment only. The clinic ramped up to 3,000 beginning Tuesday.Â
