They think of food scales, meal plans, and a laundry list of rules and restrictions: no desserts, no alcohol, no processed foods, and no calories that lack a clear nutritional purpose. I can only speak for myself, but if I tried fueling my 100-plus miles per week with that rigid approach, I’d either be chronically under fueled or quickly burned out, neither of which would be advantageous to what I hope is a very long running career. I’d also be missing out on a lot of delicious foods, not to mention opportunities to share them with people I care about.
