The Lombardi Trophy is a great get for an NFL team. In fact, it’s the top get in that it goes to the Super Bowl champion, which means it will be presented to the winner of Super Bowl XVI between the defending champion Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday night. That’s not the problem. Rather, the issue is that the trophy is named for the wrong man. Now, don’t get me wrong in that Vince Lombardi, for whom the trophy is named, is one of the greatest head coaches in pro football history. What he did with the Green Bay Packers during the 1960s, guiding them to five NFL championships in a seven-year span, the last two of which coming in Super Bowl I and II, is off the charts.
