Students then turned their focus on the association’s education officer. Paris Tait, kaiāwhina for Māori student association Manawatahi, successfully called for the removal of Alex Johnston. Tait told the crowd Johnston had made no effort to engage with Māori students in his year-long tenure. She said during the May 26 executive meeting, which over 50 students attended, Johnston had been “constantly fighting” with colleagues.
