STURBRIDGE - Hillary Murray was promoted and became the first female sergeant on the Sturbridge Police Department on April 5, 2021.
STURBRIDGE - In a history-making unanimous vote, Sturbridge selectmen on Monday named the Police Department's first female sergeant.
Hillary Murray, who joined the department in 2006, scored the highest in the competitive promotion process which included a written examination, an assessment center and a panel interview with Mike Jagoda, major of the University of Rhode Island police and Carl Mazzaferro, captain of the Longmeadow Police Department and Chief Earl Dessert.
