Sudbury judge critical of killer's family and friends

Michael Marois alone is responsible for shooting and killing another man in a jealous rage, a Sudbury judge said Tuesday in sentencing the Hanmer man to life in prison.
Justice Alex Kurke said it’s wrong for Marois’ family and friends to blame his estranged girlfriend, Lisa Langdon, for what happened on July 12, 2020, during a barbecue at a Hanmer home.

“Nothing could be less just or less appropriate,” Kurke stressed in his sentencing decision via Zoom link. “Most of us in our lives will have had a sense of regret (with a relationship ending), after the loss of a loved one. It is a common part of the human experience everybody has to learn from, get past, and grow from.
