Sugar Creek Raceway In Blue Ridge Set To Reopen Wednesday, May 12, 2021 - by Steve Hixson In exactly one month, to the day, the Sugar Creek Raceway in Blue Ridge is set to reopen after more than a year of silence, due to COVID-19, with new promoter, racer and local businessman Seth Wimpey (#24) at the helm. Wimpey is already making improvements to the 1/3 mile clay banked oval, adding fresh red clay to the surface. An open practice will take place Saturday, June 5, a week before the opener. Wimpey is only scheduling races about once a month for the race track, but each race will be something special. The season opener on June 12 will see the Red Clay 602/Sportsman series battle for $2,000. Super Late Models, Modified Street, Beg/602 and FWD will all see action during the season opener.
