It looks as if all six area county fairs in Indiana and the two nearest fairs in Michigan will return this year after being canceled in 2020 because of the pandemic. The St. Joseph County 4-H Fair kicks off the ritual summer celebrations of livestock, midway rides, entertainment and specialty foods from July 2 to 10. The fair board is still planning and monitoring COVID-19 numbers, so itâs not entirely clear what the event will look like this year, Board President Jim Caldwell said. But there will be social distancing, disinfecting and other precautions. The fair board also plans to have 4-H members show their livestock and projects, as in previous years. Live entertainment, however, is âquestionable,â Caldwell said. The board is still deciding if there can be large concerts while still following health department guidelines.
