MIDDLETOWN - SUNY Chancellor Jim Malatras announced Tuesday that SUNY campuses can open fully in-person in the fall if enough students, faculty and staff get vaccinated. Malatras referenced Monday's announcement by Gov. Andrew Cuomo that anyone 16 or older will be eligible to receive a vaccine as of April 6, calling it a "game-changer." "That makes us able to come back fully in-person, we believe, in the fall," Malatras said. "We're excited about that. We believe we're turning the page." Thirty-six SUNY campuses now serve as vaccination sites, with 44 total locations. They will also be "a built-in infrastructure" to vaccinate students, faculty and staff who will become eligible for the vaccine starting April 6, Malatras said.
