Synopsis
As many as 44 members of the 90 court staff working on Saturday tested positive, according to people aware of the matter. The court has more than 3,400 employees. This prompted the court administration to suspend all physical hearings and a return to only work in virtual mode. Judges will also function out of their residences instead of the court building for the time being.
The Supreme Court has gone back to functioning only in a virtual mode, a signal to all other courts in the country to follow suit as Covid-19 cases surge both inside and outside courtrooms.
