Survival Rates For Common Cancers Are Improving Every Year | Q 101.9

Jul 12, 2021
Here's today's feel-good story:
A new study shows that overall death rates are declining in both men and women with cancer in all racial and ethnic groups in the United States.
The study shows good news for 11 out of the 19 most common cancers among men, and 14 out of the 20 most common cancers among women.
“The declines in lung cancer and melanoma death rates are the result of progress across the entire cancer continuum — from reduced smoking rates to prevent cancer to discoveries such as targeted drug therapies and immune checkpoint inhibitors,” said Karen E. Knudsen, M.B.A., Ph.D., CEO of American Cancer Society.
