A FISHERMAN was caught trying to bring his knife and a pair of secateurs into the magistrates’ court.
Janusz Pielak, 59, told the justices last year that he had the “ordinary fishing knife” as he was due to go fishing with a colleague after his court appearance. He was working in the garden before being picked up and had put the secateurs in his bag.
Swindon magistrates this week sentenced him to 12 weeks’ imprisonment, suspending the jail time for a year.
Chairman of the bench Iain Cooper told Pielak: “If you commit any offences at all during that 12 month period you are more than likely to be sent to prison.”
