Syracuse, NY — Justin McGann panicked after fatally striking a pedestrian on West Genesee Street in August 2020, abandoning his vehicle nearby before confessing to police four to five hours later, his lawyer said Monday.
McGann, then 24, had a “knee-jerk” reaction that may have been triggered by the fact he lost his older brother, Robert McGann, to a car crash on James Street in July 2012, Justin McGann’s defense lawyer, Karin Marris, said.
