Investors were calmer after a sell-off Tuesday, when Taiwan reported its first domestic transmission of COVID-19 since April 12, but turnover fell as more foreign institutional investors went on Christmas and New Year breaks, they said. The weighted index on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE), the Taiex, ended up 45.63 points, or 0.32 percent, at 14,223.09, after moving between 14,134.87 and 14,247.79, on turnover of NT$219.57 billion (US$7.81 billion).
