View Comments Tallahassee city officials shared the early workings of a clean energy plan on Wednesday, dedicated to becoming fully reliant on renewable energy by 2050. The announcement came at Wednesday's regular City Commission meeting. While the plan is still being made final, climate and environmental advocacy groups say there are still issues surrounding low income residents that must be resolved. In a related move, Tallahassee city commissioners also unanimously passed a ban on single-use plastic utensils and containers on city property or at city events. The clean energy plan sets out to achieve 100% net, clean renewable energy in the next 29 years. That includes switching all operations of city facilities, light duty vehicles and StarMetro fixed route buses to renewable energy by 2035.
