TBI: Fired state trooper 'choked' handcuffed suspect, punched him in groin at Robertson County jail

A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer was fired this week after a Robertson County grand jury indicted him on assault charges stemming from an incident at the local jail last year.
Trooper Sammy Allen, 32, of Davidson County, is accused of assaulting a man who was handcuffed and restrained on Nov. 27.
Allen “choked the arrestee twice and punched him in the groin once,” according to a release issued by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.
The man was not named.
