Corporate entertainment giant and individual entertainment consumer each want to find the next series akin to HBO’s “Game of Thrones” or AMC’s “The Walking Dead.”
You know, the series that combines wide, sustained popularity with strong writing, deft storytelling, artistic production values, and oodles of drama that get you talking.

Once upon a time, Netflix, HBO, Showtime, AMC, and FX could, among them, find programs that met these criteria. Two of them, Hulu’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” and FX’s “Pose” have their season previews this week, “The Handmaid’s Tale” debuting its fourth skein on Wednesday, “Pose” starting its last season, comprising a mere five episodes, on Sunday.
