Horses will outnumber contestants for the Texas High School Rodeo Association Finals in Abilene that goes through June 12 at the Taylor County Expo Center's new Taylor Telecom Arena. This is the 32nd year with Abilene as host of the finals, which is expected to draw about 670 cowboys and cowgirls representing 10 regions in the state. They will be vying for top scores to qualify for the National High School Finals Rodeo in July in Lincoln, Nebraska. Some pre-finals events start Thursday, with all contestants due to check in Sunday. "We'll have over 1,000 head of horses on the grounds," said Holly DeLaune, THSRA's marketing director.
