The Case Against Drafting a RB in the 1st Round By Deutsch757 on Apr 29, 2021, 10:25am EDT + Fellow Steelers fans, this took me a bit longer to write than I expected, but for those who have been annoyed by my incessant negativity regarding a first round RB, I figured I owed you an explanation. Admittedly, I get the reasoning for wanting a first round RB since our running attack was probably the worst in the NFL last year (even if it wasn’t, technically, statistically). All of us realize that the running game needs to be fixed; however, we differ in how we should go about fixing said problem. For instance, I believe that it would be wiser to invest in a great O-line prospect than it would be to get a star RB in round 1. While I typically disagree with PFF’s analysis, I do think they recently did a good job of further explaining my thoughts on fixing the O-line as opposed to grabbing a shiny new RB. Video. If you decided not to watch, I’ll try and argue in favor or my position a few other ways, starting with a historical analysis.
