By 10 a.m., several inches of snow had already accumulated in downtown Waterbury.
Heavy snowfall with strong winds is expected into Tuesday, with the most intense conditions between 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., according to meteorologist John Bagioni of Fax-Alert Weather Service in Burlington.
Gov. Ned Lamont to people traveling CT roads at this time: "I would tell you head home."
“This storm will continue to ramp up this morning with the overall nasty combination of heavy snow and strong winds occurring this afternoon on into the mid-evening period,” Bagioni said in his 4 a.m. forecast.
Accumulations greater than 14 inches are possible in areas of Fairfield, Litchfield and Windham counties.
