The Push To Reopen Schools Democratic Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer has been saying for some time now that she’d like to see state public and private schools return to in-person learning as of Monday. Many Battle Creek area schools are already at least offering in-person for elementary grades. But there’s no hard and fast across-the-board scheduling for that. Kalamazoo Public School administrators are deciding to stay virtual-only for the duration of the school year. Michigan State University researchers at the MSU Education Policy Innovation Collaborative keep track of districts throughout the state. They’re reporting a little over 80% of Michigan schools are at least partially back to normal class settings. That’s an increase of better than 29% over January numbers. The MSU researchers say it is by far the largest increase since the start of the school year.
