New Jersey Herald SANDYSTON — Tyler listens to students as they practice reading aloud at Sandyston-Walpack School. He doesn't offer any feedback on the books or the reading. He just sits quietly and wags his tail as the children and teachers stop by to pet him. The four-legged, 160-pound Great Pyrenees is part of the inaugural "Dog Tales" program at the school. All K-6 students read to the therapy dog each Friday during sessions that last about 25 to 30 minutes. Breaks from reading involve the occasional belly scratch or walk around the hallway as a mental boost for both the students and the pup.
